Banditry is the act of ambushing and attacking players in the Wilderness, usually with the intent of threatening or killing a player in order to steal the possessions they are currently carrying.
Bandits[]
Bandits, who are also called many other names, such as Highwaymen, Pirates, Thieves, Robbers, Raiders, Marauders, and Brigands, are typically frowned upon by the majority of players on the server. However, such actions are not illegal, and their negative reputation doesn't stop some players from committing acts of banditry on unsuspecting players.
Bandit Methodry[]
Typically, Bandits use the Dynamic Map to scout for players who are in the Wilderness, with good distance between them and any towns as to prevent their escape into safe territory. Next, they will use Towny and player teleportation systems to get as close to their victim as possible. Using the element of surprise, the bandits will ambush their victim, after which a number of events could occur. More often than not, Bandits are successful in their ambushes as they tend to pick targets with minimal gear on, usually being players who prefer to travel light in the Wilderness or a new and inexperienced players.
Anti-Banditry Activity[]
Bandits are usually not armed well enough that they could be considered "at the top of the food chain," so to speak, typically finding Diamond and Netherite tier gear either in short supply or not wanting to risk losing it, and may use Iron or even lesser materials as a result. Some players, who have the most advanced weaponry and armor available, like to sometimes go after Bandits. This may involve going out into the Wilderness and luring Bandits, who are expecting easy prey, only to instead find that their "victim" instead well prepared, and anticipating their arrival.
Another form of combatting Bandits is by ambushing them while the Bandits are out trying to ambush another player. With the sudden arrival of multiple players nearby, Bandits will notice the shift on the DynMap, typically resulting in panic amongst them. They will either then try to flee the scene before the counter-force arrives, or stand and fight. Most of the time the bandits either escape or are torn apart by the counter-force.
