Kristiansand (Tenth Era)

Summary[]

Kristiansand, a Tenth Era town, was the capital of the former Scandinavian Empire, mostly known for containing the player warp Mall, being colorking's town, and its connections to other nations.

History[]

Founding (6/4/2023 - 6/5/2023)[]

When picking a place to settle, colorking, the city's founder, picked Norway to settle in and created a town. Other ideas he had were Afghanistan and the Mayan Empire, but as there was no towns in Scandinavia yet, like with his previous towns London and Snow Top, he decided to go there. The original name for this town was Norway, but soon after, TinyMandalorian created the now-extinct town Oslo and asked colorking to rename his town and for him to join his nation when he gets the money for it. He renamed it to the current name we have today, Kristiansand. He also started with a simple wheat and potato farm.

Growing Riches (6/7/2023)[]

As the quest system began and became actually functionable, colorking did many of his quests, coincidentally relating to color blocks and most being easy. This allowed him to get on the top 10 towns by town balance, which was kept up by doing more quests over time.

Hamadeau Incident (6/8/2023)[]

When mining in a cave, colorking noticed a diamond armored-figure shooting at him, and tried to escape by going further in the cave, which was very open. However, he missed a water bucket MLG, leading to him dying at half a heart by a skeleton and losing his diamond armor. It was soon revealed that Hamadeau tried to kill him, but that was soon brushed off as a new offer emerged.

Scandinavian Unity (6/8/2023 - 6/9/2023)[]

Kristiansand was invited to the Scandinavian Empire by Spitfire_08, and colorking accepted that invite. The nation soon consisted of this town, Stockholm, and Trondheim, though Trondheim would soon be abandoned by its inhabitants, including Hamadeau. Koopenhamina joined the next day.

Building Commission (6/9/2023)[]

When Zach_Percussion asked for people to give them something to be busy for, colorking answered since at this point his town only had one simple building. After some resource gathering, the building began. colorking gave him the necessary materials, including tools, wood, and glass for the windows. He also used some of the local flowers in his house build. Zach and colorking agreed for him to be paid in server currency for his commission. They settled on a payment of $200 dollars, and colorking credited him on the entrance of the house. Overall, the house was pretty good and used a combination of building strategies.

Creating Non-Agricultural Farms (6/9/2023 - 6/10/2023)[]

A simple breeder farm of sheep, chickens, and cows built with dirt began, allowing wool to be farmed as well as feathers, leather, and beef. According to colorking, the farm ethically treats animals. The farm was built over a cave, making it somewhat hard to initially select animals to be placed into the farm. Another farm he created was a lava/clay farm, originally made for a smelting clay quest. It was built out of dirt and dripstone, with only cauldrons to fill the lava, and was decently efficient for its budget/cost. To turn dirt into mud, another manual farm was made for that, though it was not much like manual technology, more like manual labor.

Early Town Advancements (6/9/2023 - 6/13/2023)[]

Being inspired by the building built by Zach_Percussion, colorking built a building, but ended up making it the exterior of a shop, the same one he wanted to create earlier. It was made with many of the same conditions as the buildings that came before it. He also created roads inspired by the Roman-like European style, using cobblestone along with its mossy variant. This led to another building being created on the right side of the commissioned house. Over time, more resources were gained, including iron, gold, and diamonds, allowing colorking to get diamond armor and tools again after the Hamadeau incident. The only roadblocks in colorking's way was being killed by a Witch, headhunted by GummyGuy, and several other misadventures. However, a combination of commands, allies, mercy, skill, and experience on the server and Minecraft allowed colorking to keep going. Mysteriously, MCBurgerWarrior also joined the town.

The Return of Highwaystar11 and his Town Plans (6/10/2023)[]

highwaystar11 wanted to join colorking's town and add changes that he believed would make the town better (look to images for more), but considering his past experiences with highwaystar11 and that colorking didn't even like his ideas and his "community house" that was built terribly according to colorking (even highwaystar11 eventually agreed with him) he didn't let him. Even though he got into the town multiple times, colorking always kicked him and proceeded to killed him multiple times. highwaystar11 even wanted to create a town nearby, but colorking knew even that would cause issues for the Scandinavian Empire later on. But after highwaystar11 and colorking made a deal for highwaystar11 to leave in exchange for his survival and chance in the server, and since he felt bad for him, colorking gave highwaystar11 some bread. Then highwaystar11 wanted to make a town, but because the quest system was broken at the time, he couldn't make the money to do so and was stranded with only the bread left.

Sheep Herding Crash (6/11/2023 - 6/12/2023)[]

After shearing his sheep often, colorking noticed his sheep were not getting their wool back and realized it was because there was no grass. Because of this, he moved his farm and added grass (not grass blocks, at least after colorking realized regular grass also worked) to it. However, because he had to rebuild a lot, some of the sheep did not want to stay with colorking's breeding and were not cooperative. This led to many sheep falling into the caves, just like they did before the original farm. It took a while, but the majority of colorking's losses were saved by luring them back to the farm where they were now trapped as the wall was completed. He also added two brown sheep to the farm, which is important because cocoa beans did not spawn at the time, making naturally-spawning brown sheep the only way to obtain brown wool. He also increased the size of the farm to decrease entity cramming and "animal abuse," according to colorking.

Stockholm's Collapse (6/13/2023)[]

Because Spitfire_08 along with Stockholm's other trusted residents were not active, they did not deposit enough money to the town for it to stay in existence, so it fell. Because Kristiansand had the most money and most residents at the time, they became the capital instead of Stockholm. colorking was reluctant to become the leader of his nation, but he knew it was the only way for it to stay alive.

Later Town Advancements (6/13/2023 - 6/19/2023)[]

On June 13, colorking was gifted blaze rods and nether wart, allowing him to begin alchemy, starting off with the swiftness and strength potions. Later that day, colorking learned how to do brewing from doing the tutorial quest for it and looking at its mod's wiki, and began to create beer. At first, he could only make 4 star beer, but learned how to make 5 star beer by being keener on timing. A few days later, colorking started producing fruits of cherry, plum, and orange. He also remembered how nether gold ore can be smelted like raw gold with the silk touch enchant. Around this time is when a few more residents came into the town.

Roman Invitation (6/13/2023)[]

IWontAcceptThat /msg'd colorking shortly after Stockholm fell for the Scandinavian Empire to join the Roman Empire. He was somewhat reluctant, especially considering Spitfire might come back, but was in good faith with the Romans and started growing relations with them. Sometime later, on a journey to do a few of his quests, colorking found a nether fortress, which he needed for multiple quests. There, he was accidentally killed by a player in the Roman Empire. They apologized with one of their major representatives, DrChez, responding to colorking's /msg. and gave the majority of colorking's items back. Shortly after that, colorking finished most of the quests he needed from the nether fortress.

Flag Day/Week Tribute (6/14/2023 - 6/15/2023)[]

When colorking realized Flag Day was coming up, he began collecting wool from /rtp'ing and his wool farm to create banners for flags, most of them related to the MCPE server. These flags will be mentioned in the pictures section.

Copenhagen is Recruited (6/20/2023)[]

While gaining more members in his town, colorking wanted to expand his nation, the Scandinavian Empire, to other towns in the Scandinavian region, especially considering Kööpenhamina was very inactive at the time and its only member, DoiceNoice, had not been on for almost 2 weeks, which was the majority of the server so far. The only two towns in contention, meaning without a pre-existing nation, were Copenhagen and a new Stockholm (owned by Jagster, not Spitfire), and colorking chose Copenhagen because it seemed to have more potential, more active players, and he did not like bringing back a new Stockholm like nothing happened. Negotiations started with Scit0 and PugyA08 unwilling to join the nation, and attempting to show their higher strength to colorking, as colorking did the same. However, over the time of the discussion, especially as both leaders visited eachother's towns, Copenhagen was more willing to join. The only rule Scit0 had was that he didn't want other towns to join, and colorking's only drawback from them joining beforehand was that they had an incident with the Romans, but the Romans ended up saying that they were still okay with Copenhagen joining.

colorking's Mall (6/20/2023 - 6/24/2023)[]

As colorking's influence grew on the server, he created a mall, started construction around 20 June 2023, and made it with the idea of multiple floors each with different items. He began building with an elevator, made of quartz and tinted glass, inspired by a quartz-smelting quest. He made the floor out of blackstone and used a wooden wall to serve as the setup for the item frames and chests. The signs would have a striped design, switching between oak and spruce signs. The items started with basic commodities like iron, gold, and blaze rods. He added ender pearls to the floor after he made it to The End on June 24. This already brought in a lot of costumers and brought it into competition with Walmart, which was owned by the Indo-Prussians' greatest enemy, the British Commonwealth. Both colorking and Walmart's allies lowered the ratings of their competitors to try to skew traction away from them. colorking's second floor had the same design, but used Spruce Wood instead of Oak and Spruce Planks. It sold classic buildings blocks like cobblestone, sand, terracotta, and dirt, along with multiple types of wood, mostly native to Kristiansand's region. Business was going very well, even after the town bank wipe for update 1.20.1 of Minecraft.

Griefing Incident (6/24/2023 - 6/25/2023)[]

When colorking set an outsider perm on because the mall wasn't working, he forgot to turn it off, allowing Mrpiggyman and Cody to grief the town, according to bigcarnage. colorking came online the next day and immediately outlawed Mrpiggyman, he outlawed Cody later because he did not know at first. As soon as colorking was thinking of declaring war on Gunnlii, Gunnlaugr stepped in and stated that he should not declare war just because one person screwed up, and told colorking about a dm he posted earlier before colorking was awake showing that Gunnlaugr would be willing to aid him, which colorking didn't notice until now. Luckily, everyone cooperated and most of the items were brought back, and relations were still good between the two towns. This also taught colorking to never set outsider perms on by learning the hard way, and gave the town the opportunity to switch up their organization.

Slimefun Age (6/26/2023 - 7/10/2023)[]

As the economy of the nation began to grow, it necessitated that Slimefun would be added to the town, which allowed colorking to do many things he could not before, like get better armor and weapons and create many items he could use for himself, his people, or his Mall. This allowed him to get better gear and even tied in to his partnership with Bismarkthe2nd and his shop with SF.

Kristiansand during colorking's vacation (7/4/2023 - 7/22/2023)[]

Throughout most of July, colorking was less active because of his vacation. However, he did work on some major things, including Slimefun, and profits stayed high.

Late Kristiansand (7/23/2023 - 7/27/2023)[]

As colorking became more active, he came into conflict with More For Fewer in a court case, but it was postponed to an indefinite time. He also started invading neighboring towns because they were annoying colorking and to show supremacy in the region. However, this gave him hate because he chased out the population of a 3-day old town in the region, Kalmar, albeit they paid reparations later on, and raided their town until there was no trace. This combined with colorking's "stupid" behavior made the Prussians angry, and gave them cause to siege his town. colorking, along with Scit0, AceCloud, and Immortality, fought to defend the town, but they were outskilled and outnumbered, causing the town to fall. The victors immediately went to destroying the town, leaving just the ashes of its former glory.

Buildings[]

The buildings in this town included a booth, colorking's Mall, an underwater base made by Karriet, four small wooden houses based off different styles of Nordic architecture, houses built by jewjitzu, bigcarnage, and GalacticNoob, and the house commissioned by Zach_Percussion. There is also a bunker below the town's nether portal that grows nether wart and was used to store valuables that were evaucated by colorking, Scit0, and Noveske556.

Government[]

Because of the low competition and urge for power among the residents, there were no elections. However, its nation used Authoritarianism.

Politics[]

Kristiansand was known for being a town open to everyone and being nice to anyone who trades with them, except when they are unkind to their allies and friends. Kristiansand supported the Indo-Prussians, the Gizan Dynasty, and the Roman Empire against the DPRK. The town also has connections to Copenhagen and Greenland from their nation.

Economy[]

The economy of this town was based mainly on the Mall, which has seen major success so far with almost 100 visits. They gained the most profits from wood and simple commodities because they are very cheap to gain. However, it was slandered for sometimes inconsistent stock and bad visuals, among other things. When the siege finished, the Mall was completely decimated, and obviously went out of business afterwards.

Culture[]

Kristiansand liked being peaceful when possible, except to "defend" Scandinavia, and was more environmentally friendly not using or selling coal and using blaze rods for fuel instead until coal had to be used for carbon in Slimefun. Their old house designs were based on old Nordic architecture as well as using multiple stages of wood, although many people including colorking himself believe the buildings were not that good.
